Until the late nineteenth century, picture taking was the preserve of professional or serious amateur photographers. The introduction of the Kodak camera in 1900 heralded the start of popular photography. Today, with digital technology and especially the smart phone, it is estimated that more photographs are snapped every two minutes than were taken throughout the 1800s, and over one trillion images were captured in 2018.

How long have you been in business here and why Lewes?
We have been a family business since 1993, our business moved to Lewes in 1995 and into our current shop since March 1999.

Have you found that there's anything that people have asked for more now after lockdown has been lifted?
Since lockdown has been lifted, there has been a considerable increase in our customers enquiring about home consultations. They have of course been spending much more time in their homes and are looking to improve their space.

What's been your favourite single moment/interaction while trading during lockdown or after having re-opened?
Our favourite interaction during lockdown has to be when we hand-delivered both online orders and framing orders to our customers’ homes - Seeing the grateful and smiling faces in the doorways was a pleasure! Equally, it’s been a relief opening our shop door again and welcoming loyal and new customers back into our shop!

If you had the chance, which past Lewes High Street shop would you most like to re-introduce and why?
If we could bring back just one past Lewes High Street shop, it would have to be the Post Office. It was a hub for the top of town, it brought footfall and was extremely valuable for posting letters and parcels daily.

Of all the events and meetings that happen on the High Street which are you most looking forward to experiencing again when social restrictions are eased?
Of all the events that occur on Lewes High Street, we are most looking forward to a summer celebration we have been planning to hold and hope now to do once restrictions are safely eased.
