Originally built as private houses, 199 and 200 High Street have been used for a mixture of commercial and residential purposes. Occupants have included Lewes Turf Accountants, various ladies and gentlemen’s hairdressers, Star Bureau (a duplicating office), the County Employment Agency, a photographic studio and several restaurants and coffee shops. In recent years, both have reverted to being residential only.
How long have you been in business here and why Lewes?
11 years in Lewes. Consumer marketing showed an opening in the market (Just Fat Face in competition back then).
Have you found that there's anything that people have asked for more now after lockdown has been lifted?
What's been your favourite single moment/interaction while trading during lockdown or after having re-opened?
The brilliant interaction with our regulars who were genuinely pleased to see us open again. And we were just as pleased to see their faces.
If you had the chance, which past Lewes High Street shop would you most like to re-introduce and why?
Bright Ideas, brilliant gift ideas for everyone.
Of all the events and meetings that happen on the High Street which are you most looking forward to experiencing again when social restrictions are eased?
Kimberley and Imogen at White Stuff
