The Lewes Rowing Club annual report described the weather of the 1899 boating season as very favourable and all the pleasure craft of the club, as well as the private boats of members, were extensively used.
Beer bottles were of thick glass to survive being re-used many times. The bottles were often the property of the bottler, sometimes marked with the words THIS BOTTLE IS NEVER SOLD.

Percy's Fishing Tackle

THE FACE OF THE HIGH STREET

How long have you been in business here and why Lewes?
We have been in Lewes for roughly 40 years, thought there was a need for a fishing tackle and gun store.

Have you found that there's anything that people have asked for more now after lockdown has been lifted?
A lot more people have started fishing since lockdown has started.

If you had the chance, which past Lewes High Street shop would you most like to re-introduce and why?
A Decent hardware store, DIY, where you can pick a few bits here and there for what you need.
