Image 2: Copy of poster ‘Bad Teeth No Bar’
Sergeant Turner, a member of a Cyclist Battalion. Cyclists were used mainly for reconnaissance and carrying messages, as they proved ineffective in combat on rough terrain or in muddy conditions. They were recruited through posters saying “ Are YOU fond of cycling? Why not cycle for the King? Cycles provided. Uniform and clothing issued on enlistment. Bad teeth no bar”.
