This chilly family group was photographed on Malling Hill. It shows District Surveyor Cecil Wallingford, his wife Winifred and their daughter Joan. Magazines at the time reminded readers to protect themselves against the “evil worked by petrol-laden wind and dust on the complexion” by wearing veils, goggles, or even a kind of transparent visor to protect their faces.
