Wilfred was born in March 1888, the youngest of 7 children, and lived with his family at Castle Precincts House. In 1912 he and his brother William sailed to Melbourne, with their jobs listed as mechanic and bookkeeper respectively. Wilfred enlisted in the Australian Light Horse Brigade. He served in France and Egypt, was killed in action in December 1916 and is buried in Greece. He is named on the Lewes War Memorial.
